CEO AND FOUNDER

Carolyn Hendrickson is CEO and Founder of Tandem Group. She has over 25 years of experience in working with executives to achieve and sustain breakthrough results in their businesses. Her primary areas of expertise are in strategic planning, leadership team alignment, large-scale culture change, and employee engagement. She brings an integrated view of organizations to her clients and addresses change through a broad array of interventions at multiple levels.

 

Prior to founding Tandem Group, Dr. Hendrickson was a partner at Monitor Group and a senior practitioner in Monitor’s Global Organizational Change and Transformation practice. Before joining Monitor, Dr. Hendrickson was a Partner with Oliver Wyman, formerly Mercer Delta Consulting, where she led the Midwest practice and specialized in CEO led change at the enterprise level. She has also worked at Innovation Associates/Arthur D. Little (ADL) as a Principal in the Strategy and Organization practice and for CSC/Index, where she was a Partner in the Organization Effectiveness group focused on designing and managing large integrated change initiatives. Before working with CSC, she worked for Amoco Corporation as an Organization Effectiveness Consultant.

Dr. Hendrickson’s clients have spanned a variety of industries including pharmaceuticals (e.g., Hospira, Takeda, and Johnson and Johnson), manufacturing (e.g., Tempel Steel, Astec Industries, Johnson Controls, Borg-Warner Automotive, and MeadWestvaco Corporation), senior living (e.g., Direct Supply, Extendicare), financial services (e.g., Allstate Insurance, Scottsdale Insurance Company, St. Paul Companies, AXA Financial, The World Bank),  energy (e.g., Department of Energy, Illinois Power, Westinghouse/Hanford), and other consumer related companies (McDonald’s Corporation, United Airlines, Hyatt Hotels, Oriental Trading Company, McCain Foods).

She has presented her ideas and methods in many public forums. These include The Association for Work Process Improvement (TAWPI) Forum, International Communication Forum, Academy of Management Annual Meeting, the Conference of Organizational Systems Designers, the Pegasus Systems Thinking Conference, SoL Annual Conference, and ODN Annual Conference. Some of her earlier work in various organizational areas, such as employee involvement, has also been published in Managing Professional Competence and the Handbook of Business Strategy. Her “Leadership in Complex Times”, is in The 2010 Pfeiffer Annual of Leadership Development.

Dr. Hendrickson earned her doctorate and master degrees in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Pennsylvania State University and completed her undergraduate work at Duke University in the areas of Math and Psychology. Dr. Hendrickson is also a graduate of the Harvard University Program for Management Development and has served as an adjunct faculty member with DePaul University delivering their executive customized corporate programs. Dr. Hendrickson has served on the Boards of the Catamount Institute, the Society for Organizational Learning, and the Harvard Business School Club of Chicago.
