There are a core set of principles and values that drive both the type of work we do and how we do it. These values and beliefs underlie the purpose of the firm and the reason we exist. They also have implications for how we run our business.

    To realize our potential

    At the heart of it, our work is about freeing people up to perform at the levels they inherently desire and removing the barriers organizations inevitably create against optimal performance. We do this by creating the organizational conditions for exceptional results, sustained growth and continued development.

  • Truth

    Being courageous enough to say what is so

    Being truthful is not something that comes naturally in organizations. Seeking the truth by separating facts from interpretations, exploring alternative explanations, and being courageous enough to tell ourselves and others the truth is critical to building relationships, maximizing our potential, and growing over time. Telling the truth inside a common commitment allows us to constructively work through conflicts and achieve the breakthroughs available to us on the other side.

  • Wisdom

    Being conscious and masterful

    There are universal laws at work in our world. Once you understand them and manage your organization in a way that is consistent with those, you will achieve greater results. Much of the wisdom, as contrasted to knowledge, that leaders need to be successful today comes from knowing themselves and being able to be actively aware and “present” in a variety of situations. This makes it possible to more masterfully leverage the choices that become available to us.

  • Emergence

    Believing in what we cannot see

    We have found the most effective way to create change in organizations is not through traditional approaches to change management, but by creating the conditions for emergent change—change that happens naturally. This is deeply connected to the spiritual discipline of faith—belief in what you can’t see. That is what makes emergent change so difficult. As humans, we inherently want to control our worlds and we don’t believe until we see. But, this way of thinking limits organization’s ability to produce results beyond their current comprehension or imagination.

  • Connection

    Reconnecting what has been fragmented

    In the worlds of science and technology we are increasingly understanding how we are all interconnected. In some spiritual traditions, we are called to be part of one body. Rebuilding the connections, and common commitments, that are required to produce extraordinary results is very central to our work. Every organization has “alignment issues”—disconnects in structures and gaps between the commitments of leaders.

  • Collective Intelligence

    Why we engage others

    As leaders, we tend to believe the myth that we have all the answers. The more complex our organizations become and the more daunting the challenges we face, the less we can rely on our own expertise and experience. Leaders in highly effective organizations have developed the skills and practices needed to effectively engage the people in their organization. They have learned how to gain access to the collective wisdom that exists and leverage it for the good of the whole.

  • Conversation

    Honoring the power of our word

    Some say all work is a conversation. Clearly, everything that happens in our organizations is the result of someone communicating and someone listening and acting. The quality of our conversations is sorely lacking. The power of our word has lost its value over time. Quite often breakthroughs in performance happen by shifting the quality of the interactions people have with one another.
